FYI we were re-directed during the booking procedure to the hotel ‘Pentagotel Brussels Airport’ instead of the Holiday Inn. When we arrived, despite the fact that we had received a booking confirmation, the hotel rep at the reception said that ‘unfortunately we are full’. We asked how that could be as we had a booking confirmation. We got a bullshit answer. The receptionist then quickly said; well I have a cancellation so you can have another room with two single beds if you like. We didn’t have much choice. However we had to pay the price we were quoted for a bigger room with a double bed (Euro 204). The room we got was tiny; not even enough for our four suitcases; we had to stack these on top of each other, on top of the room’s tiny desk. Bathroom was disgusting and worn out. At check in we asked for the restaurant hours in the hotel. We were told in principle 24h open but a la carte until ca 22:00. We dropped our gear in our room and went to the bar/restaurant at ca. 20:30. We were then told that no food could be ordered for the rest of the evening due to lack in kitchen staff. This despite the fact that we were told ca 30min earlier at check in that the ‘restaurant was serving a la carte until 22:00’ We were forced to find another venue for dinner, outside the hotel premises. We would based on the strange booking experience, extremely poor value for the the price and the poor state of the hotel, incorrect information given by hotel staff, never ever go to this hotel again nor recommend anyone else either.
Pros:Great restaurant, great breakfast, friendly and helpful staff. Free airport shuttle.
Cons:Free wifi is so poor it barely even counts as an amenity. There's basically no wifi here unless you want to pay 10€.
