The renting was easy and people friendly. But on last day of renting the car battery was dead and caused me to miss my flight home. I went to rental office in airport and wanted to rent a car until tomorrow and thought I should be compensated due to the car not starting. The lady there said no because now I'm a walk in and price for 1 day rental was 289 dollars. I went to Thrifty.

The people here in Mesa were wonderful. Pick up was super. We started having a problem with the battery right away. When we got to Temecula, my son-in-law decided it was the operator and not the battery. We called the Hertz service line while in Temecula and they said if it starts not a problem they can’t come out. It has to be not starting so their service kinda sucks. We didn’t have to drive it much at all then we went to see my niece in San Diego. Again, we didn’t have to drive it at all while we’re there. However, on the way home we need to stop and one of my favorite little cities for a short period of time the store I wanted to see was closed and it would not restart. It took us two hours to find somebody that would give us a jumpstart in the meantime, my husband realized that a jumpstart , once we turned it off would not work because the battery light was on. The service we used was wonderful. No longer needing a jumpstart, he put the new battery and reconnected it and took care of us wonderfully. we are waiting to hear from Hertz for reimbursement for the almost $500. My experience was out of this world, due to the employees I had the chance to speak with. Specifically, the man who checked me in and out, as well as the other two employees in the office at the time. They were so warm, extremely accommodating, and absolutely turned my days around. I went in well to pick-up, and left knowing the day was one to be enjoyed. I came in today to drop off my car, feeling.. not the best! I left knowing the day was one to be enjoyed. They are truly amazing people.

The pick up was supposed to be at the Mesa Airport and it was not. I called and kept being placed on hold. Once I managed the discuss with someone, all they could do is cancel and refund my money. I still needed a rental car. Therefore I took at a cab to the pick up location and it was over $100.00. Not impressed.

I was given the keys and told to find the car outside. The car had multiple dings and dents, some of which were marked with small Xs. The car also had a bad lingering smell. Either someone smoked inside at some point or worse.

I liked I could drop the rental car off in another city. Things that could have gone better 1. They could offer a map, like they use to, to get to the freeway. I’m old and don’t have a navigation device. 2. Shuttle service to budget, no help from them. Being last off plane we missed all taxis, took 2 hrs to get to budget. 3. Unfriendly service once we arrived. Our rental was a dirty car. 4. Once on our way, The car had a light on that wouldn’t go off, pull inconveniently off the road to find they never latched down the front hood of the car. HELLO! 5. The last blow was the return! Pull in they check everything out and see the gas gauge IS on full I’d just filled up. They wanted a receipt for the gas, I was NEVER informed that I would need proof. He basically accused me of trying to return a car without filling up, said some cars the gauge doesn’t drop off the full mark?? WHAT I just drove 170 mi. and you’re telling me your gauge doesn’t work? Needless to say they charged me $49.00 for gas. Need I say more….

Booked a car through kayak, got to the Avis location at the Mesa Airport and they told me they had 0 cars available. Guy behind the counter couldn’t care less it was 8pm, I had no car, just gave me a pamphlet on how to get a refund. How is this possible? I had reserved the car hours in advanced with a confirmation. Absolutely ridiculous. Had to spend $60 to uber home because “airport fees” as the uber driver described and I lived less than 10 miles away and still had to find another rental car. Ended up renting with Turo. Even with the fees, overall better experience.
