Do not assume that everyone knows how to drive the new cars & car features. Many people renting a car are seniors & drive older model cars. I think someone from car rental place should go to car with the customer to make sure they know how to use the new car features.

They gave me a car without winter tires, i asked for insurance but when I saw my contract later, it did NOT include insurance and I got in an accident. They THEN proceeded to charge me for gas, despite me having filled up the vehicle and having receipts.

Pros:

The location was closed and i could not even pick the car. This ruined my plans. When a location is closed, why are you allowing to book a car? This was a very unprofessional and irresponsible and false service provided by kayak

I liked the price , the car was completely filthy upon pick up and had less fuel in it when I picked it up (654km to empty) when I filled it I had (760km to empty)couldn’t asses any previous damage because of this. So when I returned it they tried to tell me I did damage that I did not do. Thank god I took some pics before I left. I’ve rented from a lot of places before and with ease and this one was by far the worst experience ever! Then they tried to tell me I had chips in the window which as I stated before I couldn’t asses the damage because of the dirt and bugs completely covering the car!

Car showed maintenance required during the entire rental period. Also charged for a whole extra day dropping car off 3 hours late. Not worth it. Would not consider AVIS nor recommend moving forward.

The vehicle they gave me was filthy. The 2nd and 3rd row seats were down and when I lifted them there was something sticky all over the back seat. Car was definitely not cleaned inside or out. I complained and they gave me another car and although better in the inside, outside was filthy. First time I’ve had that experience.

The service staff was great. The car itself was old and was pretty beaten up. Small amounts of damage all around the vehicle. Didn't feel overly clean. Probably due to its age and wear & tear.

I forgot my suitcase at their counter and was about 20 minutes away when I got a phone call from the CSR I had been dealing with. I would have, quite possibly, reached my destination, 4 hours away, and discovered this. He saved me a lot of time and headaches. They didn’t have the vehicle I hoped to get and upgraded me for only a few dollars more. Excellent service.

My security deposit was not returned to me on time, even the staff said that after doing the return inspection they will transfer my money back but after 3 days I had to call and then they did the refund process. This made my card blocked for additional week for no reason.

I booked my rental three weeks in advance. Day before I was to fly out I received a call saying they had no car for. No offer to help, no apology, nothing. I had to go to another company on short notice and had to,pay $458.00 more than I had booked for with Alamo. Alamo obviously overbooked and cost me a,lot of money and stress. NEVER book with Alamo, they have NO understanding of customer service.

I rented a car from Alamo to be picked up at the Regina, SK airport. When I got to the line of rental car counters I did not see Alamo. I asked a couple of people and they said they hadn't heard of Alamo. Thankfully, a security guard said to check with National Car Rental. So I did and apparently they own Alamo. Someplace on the signage or displayed prominently should be an Alamo sign. The person at the counter asked if I wanted Accident insurance. I was puzzled by the question because I had already purchased accident insurance through Kayak with Alliance. She said in case of an accident National/Alamo does not accept a 3rd party insurance - that I would have to pay out of pocket and then get the insurance company to reimburse me. That was news to me. So be careful when accepting accident insurance when you are reserving a car through an online site such as Kayak or Priceline. There is no shuttle to the rental car lot - you have to walk about 8 blocks with your suitcases in tow. When I finally found my car - there was no lot attendant - it was almost brand new. Excellent car (a Nissan Rogue) and very clean. Easy return.

When my partner and I tried to pay for our rental, the man at the booth declined my VISA card because it said VISA Debit (I used this card to book the reservation). He told me that you can use any card to book the reservation and that I needed an actual credit card to pay. So we left to find out what we could do, and a few family membera/friends offered to pay using their card. We also had another another travel credit card from our Australian Bank, but we weren't sure they'd accept it. We go back to the booth and explain our situation. We then ask him to try both our cards and he agreed. He quickly swiped and then said that they won't work because they are prepaid cards. He also could tell I was annoyed with the situation and said "go on, ask anyone else here, this is our policy, everywhere will need an actual credit card". My partner then asked him if we could pay in cash... the man said, "Nobody uses cash anymore". So, I said it was b.s. and left. The man working that day was irritable, confrontational, not willing to assist, not willing to help find us an alternative ... just simply didn't care. At all. Fast forward to later in the day when I contacted National to cancel our booking. I spoke to a customer rep who confirmed with me that the employee should have accepted both of our Australian cards if we had proof of a flight leaving Canada. I couldn't believe it. Anyway, I submitted a complaint and will never use National ever again.

We got an email saying that a car would be ready at a certain time. When we finally found the desk in a hotel there was no one there but there was a phone number to call. He answered and said he didn't have anything available. He said he would try to get us one for the next day. He never phoned back. We had been in an accident and had no other transportation. Our granddaughter found us a company who had a car available
