4.0 Mediocre
This former Sheraton facility has some issues, dominantly management and maintenance related. When we arrived, 2 of 3 bathroom lights were out. This begs the question of whether the room was inspected after the last guests or whether the housekeeping staff noted the outage and didn’t report it. We asked that the lights be fixed while we were at breakfast. It didn’t happen until we requested a second time. We then had repetitive failures of our door entry cards. We had a total of 5 cards fail after 24 hours of use, requiring going back down to the front desk on multiple occasions to have replacement cards issued. There was a shortage of electrical outlets such that we had to unplug the refrigerator or microwave to plug in the coffee machine. (2 outlets - 3 appliances). In general, standards are not up to the usual Marriott excellence. One bright note: one of the dining room personnel at breakfast was terrific. Mike was attentive, helpful, and cheerful. He brightened our Sunday morning.

Overall the hotel is "fine". An older hotel, pretty shabby interior, staff is not super friendly, etc - but it's clean and in a good location.

It seems the more one pays for a hotel room, the less one gets — that’s the sacrifice when you trade affordability for location. The Sheraton at Capitol Square is a convenient location, but doesn’t have a restaurant or bar. I didn’t expect a free hot breakfast in the morning but I did expect a hot shower, which no one in the hotel received. We were assured the chain would compensate for that, but haven’t received information regarding that yet.

Cons:Took over 3 hours to check in, bed wasn't comfortable, was put into room that we didn't ask for. Took so long to check in we missed our dinner reservation for our anniversary.

Cons:The rooms were not ready for everyone in my conference and some people did not get their room until 9pm. Also, all of the cards to enter the rooms stopped working b/c they were programmed to expire after 1 day, but we all stayed 2 days.

Pros:Not bad but overpriced. Room was comfortable but beat-up and didn’t feel well maintained. Feels like a hotel that was nice a decade ago but has gotten shabby without pricing accordingly.

Pros:The staff were extremely friendly! The beds were comfy. I liked that the parking garage was a quick walk to the hotel and you didn't have to walk outside at all. Everywhere we decided to go was a quick drive to and from our hotel which was very convenient.
Cons:The hotel room floors seemed dirty and somewhat sticky feeling. Parking for this hotel was ridiculously expensive. Someone must have vomitted in the lobby bc there was an awful vomit smell the two times we walked through the lobby. We were looking forward to grabbing a coffee once we got to our hotel and the Starbucks ended up being closed. I expected the hotel to be a bit more updated for the price of the room.
