The people working for Alamo were super nice. Checking in was a little long since there was only one person running the counter. But it was late at night so that’s to be expected. Actually getting the car and returning the car was fast and easy. Would definitely rent from them again!

Truck was in good condition and drove well. Moderately clean, although obvious drink spills only partially cleaned up. The hour wait for pick-up was obnoxious since I was 5th in line and there were two people working the counter. Clearly their system sucks and they don’t care. Definitely going with enterprise next time.

Pros:

The vehicle worked perfectly for my family. We paid for a mid-size SUV and got a slight upgrade. The upgrade was comfortable and easy to use. First time using Alamo and it was a pretty seamless experience. Drop-off was fast.

Cons:

There was a line and a wait when we first got to the rental car counter. It seemed like all the counters were understaffed and I waited a good 30 minutes before I got the keys and left.

Alamo did not honor the agreed amount. They also did not have tha vehicle that was promised. Told me they gave me an up grade and then charged me for it. Your price 225.00 counter price 445.00. Never again!

I reserved an electric vehicle, but one were available at pick up, so they upgraded me to a premium SUV. The car was comfortable, but the cost of gas was way higher than I intended to spend. It would have been nice if Budget was more prepared to fulfill the reservation.

Everything was great from start to finish on our one-way rental from the Central Valley to Palm Springs. Staff at our pickup and our dropoff locations were friendly and easy to interact with. The car itself (Toyota Corolla Cross) was great, especially when we encountered some light snow on the drive over the mountains.

The wait in line at the Fresno airport was longer than it should be, but the person was caring, professional and efficient.

Cons:

The service rep was servicing three different companies at one counter. The other two companies had their systems down and was taking too much time to process them. Avis, Hertz, had no waiting, but our line was very long and slow.

Visalia ENTERPRISE location. The 12 passenger van reserved over the phone was NOT available upon arrival. Offered a 15 passenger farm-labor like van with no head-rests for a 26h trip to Texas. Finally settled for a 15 seater with no room for luggage and a 20% discount (took me 1.5h). How could a reservation be made with no vehicle in stock? Three other 12 seaters were booked for someone else in 3 days, but I would be left hanging today. Must have been more important or corporate customer...

From pick up to drop off, the customer service was great. Very friendly and personable. The car was also great. It ran smooth, no problems, great on gas. However, the inside wasn't horrible but could have used a little cleaning. Other than that, my experience was a 9.5 out of 10.

Car I reserved was not available. Was given a car in a lower category, and told I needed to contact Kayak to get a refund on the difference. Why couldn't they just refund me on the spot? And why wasn't a car I reserved available?

The woman who helped me check out my car first was very sweet.

Cons:

The cars were all extremely dirty. I even had to change cars twice because they had a strange animal pee smell and hair everywhere. Idk why these were considered to be good to rent out? Then I take a car and half way to my very short destination the car says to change the oil!! It started shaking. I was worried so I rented another while at my vacation spot. Was sad but whatever I guess. Just won’t be using the avis/Payless/budget rentals again..

Good overall. Vehicle wasn’t cleaned well when we got it and it appeared to have papers from two previous renters in it but other than that i was happy. Picking up and dropping off were quick simple processes and they allowed other drivers in the family to drive as well. I plan to use them again.

Even though I arrived after pick-up time, I was asked to wait 30 minutes for the car to be cleaned. No one ever told me when it was finished. When I wandered out to try and find my car by myself, I found a car that wasn't clear if it had been cleaned or not, due to powder in the interior and fingerprints & smudges all over the navigation screen. The windshield was also cracked but this wasn't mentioned & I had to spend time on the phone with customer service to make sure it would be noted on the rental, would be safe to drive, and wouldn't be held against me. Poor service (when any at present at all) throughout process. Would not use Avis again.

There were no rentals available when I arrived. Said 2 hr wait and that would be for a sedan when I needed SUV. Had to change to enterprise on the spot. Horrible experience.

The vehicle had shakes when the brakes were applied. I was to far away from where I rented the car to return it so I had to put up with it the whole trip. It was only a problem applying the brakes going down hill or applying the brakes for a quick stop. The car was not perfect but it served a purpose and safe trip.

Overall experience was great. Difficult to contact a local customer service representative. There was a miscommunication on whether or not I had to wash the car prior to return, but we were given a $25 discount for inconvenience.

When we arrived, they had our reservation but no car! The person at the counter was of no help and said that he could neither give us another car nor cancel the reservation. I was told that perhaps they would have a car in 40-50 minutes. He finally called me 2 hours later. In the meantime, I called Kayak, cancelled the reservation, and walked two counters down where Enterprise rented a car for LESS than what the original reservation would have been at Thrift. Thrifty has lost a customer for life. How do you reserve a car and then not have a car? Unbelievable!

Pros:

The reservation process was easy. The SUV was clean, and pick up was fast and easy. The employees at the counter inside the airport were friendly and expedient. I did have to walk back inside the airport to the desk to return it, but other than that, the return process was smooth, quick, and friendly.

Cons:

The reservation and service was great, though the price was a bit steep. It was a last-minute reservation; however, so that is just how it is. I didn't like some of the features of the SUV. The high beams flickered on and off at will while we were navigating curvy mountain roads in the dark. I did NOT enjoy this. The suspension wasn't as smooth, nor the handling as tight as the Jeep Cherokee we rented the following weekend from a different company.

Made advance reservation weeks ahead of time and pre paid. Arrived at the airport and I was informed that dollar and hertz did not hold any cars for me even though I had made the reservation confirmed it 24 hours ahead as requested. I am now having to waste my time to try to get reimbursement for the poor service and terrible business practices. I will never rent from dollar ever again.

When I pay money to reserve a vehicle and I get to dollar to check in and was told there is no more 7 passenger vehicle available and there's three people ahead of me also waiting on a 7 passenger vehicle. I think it's poor on Dollar and the third parties Dollar works with. I was not refunded my money for the service I could not use.

Cons:

The car stunk like cigarettes. I got a migraine immediately. After buying a car refresher it was better. Maybe clean it up a little for the next customer.
