Honestly the car itself was okay. It was decent on gas which I appreciate. Unfortunately the actual car pick-up at the airport was terrible. When I got to the counter after a long wait on line, I was told I would need to bring the car back early because the drop off location was not open on Sundays. I only reserved the car for appr 48 hours. After I told the representative I couldn't do that, I had to get out of line, call the Hertz 1-800 number and speak to someone about my situation. Russell, the representative, couldn't change my rental without charging me three times what I had already paid. I was not going to do that. I booked the car thinking I would have it for the entire time I rented it for. He then told me to take the car and call to change the drop off location. This took over 30 minutes on the phone! Finally I went back to the counter and was given the car after getting a refund of my original payment and was charged $25 more. The entire process was unnecessary, ridiculous, and cost me time with my family in NC. I will never rent from Hertz and possibly Kayak again. If you're going to rent someone a car make sure the locations are open for pick up and delivery!!!!Reviewed Oct 21 2024

The car was at another site from the airport. I paid $15.00 for a cab to get to the Hertz site. I was informed to return the car on Sunday morning to the same location. In order to cancel my reservation a return trip to the airport would be needed. I had several meetings to attend that day. October 23, 2022, Sunday morning the plane departure at 6:44 am. I contacted via phone Hertz and was informed it was a prepaid account, I made an attempt to get a cab at the airport at 4:00 am, and no cabs available. I returned the car at the airport with Hertz. It was very frustrating, and uneasiness. How can I return a car at another site with no cab available, and the possibility of no one to pick me up, and to return to the airport. It would have been better for me to return the car to the airport. Eventually, I returned the rental to the airport due to no transportation to the airport at 4:00 am.Reviewed Oct 24 2022

I picked up the vehicle and was less than 2 miles from the location I picked it up at when a large roach crawled out of somewhere in the driver's side door and across the arm rest, scared me and shocked me! Also the windows had not been cleaned and were very hazy which isn't safe when driving. We also found a dread lock on the floor board in the back seat. Pros:The agent at Norfolk was so personable. She brought sunshine to an anxiety-riddled experience of going to the airport and trying to find things.
